Founded in 1998 by Totlyn M. Taylor-Newby, a breast cancer survivor, Women at Real Risk (WARR) is a Washington DC based grassroots non-profit advocacy organization engaged in the fight against breast cancer. WARR was founded with the vision of the elimination of breast cancer through education and advocacy.

To accomplish its mission, WARR offers culturally relevant support and resources to those individuals or loved ones who are touched by breast cancer.

WARR fosters awareness of the perils of breast cancer through hands-on outreach programs and by creating liaisons with women of the Diaspora beginning in United States and in the Caribbean.

The mission of WARR is to ensure, through individualized support, empowerment and information, that no one faces breast cancer alone or uninformed.

To achieve its mission, WARR focuses on two main goals:

  1.  Education: Providing women at risk for, and those living with breast cancer, information relating to prevention and treatment options. This information in turn empowers them in the decision making process which then impacts all breast cancer related issues.

  2.  Advocacy: Collaboration with health care professionals, communities, villages and educational organizations to reach a wide audience in order to increase public awareness of breast cancer prevention and treatment.
